The first thing I remember from childhood is a solar eclipse. Everything I invent inevitably lives — not always for long, but always with unforgettable vividness. Everything I do inevitably succeeds — though always later and slightly differently than planned. Authorship is a way of being; poetry is the skill of snapping a knife blade. Everything will be fine, but not right away, and not for everyone.

Весна — это повод дивиться тому,
что давно знакомо.
Смеяться в оттаивающие
телеграм-каналы поэтов.
Целовать, вдыхая тепло
в девиц и иконы.
Представляете, где-то
по-настоящему будет лето.
Отогреет промёрзшее
мировое грузное веко
и снова спасёт красоту
в цейтноте и полумгле,
говорение голого русского человека
на голой русской земле.

Bio
Egor Sergeev (born October 27, 1991, in Petrozavodsk) is a poet, screenwriter, and essayist based in St. Petersburg. His poetry has been translated into ten languages and published in periodicals across several countries, as well as featured in films, theatrical productions, and video games. He has performed his work in 40 cities in Russia and abroad. Films based on his screenplays have twice been selected for the Cannes Film Festival (court metrage — 2018, 2019). He is a member of the Writers' Union of Russia.
